Aosta– the capital of the Valle d’Aosta region, in northwestern Italy. It’s near ski resorts and the Gran Paradiso National Park, which has an alpine botanical garden, trails and wildlife like ibexes and eagles.
Canazei– an Alpine resort in northern Italy. Sitting near the Pordoi it’s part of the Dolomiti Superski area, which offers numerous downhill runs. A cable car ascends to the Punta Rocca panoramic terrace on Marmolada peak, making a stop at the Marmolada Great War Museum 3000M.
Alta Badia– a ski resort in the Dolomites of northern Italy, in the upper part of the Val Badia in South Tyrol. It is included in the territories of the municipalities of Corvara, Badia, and La Val. Top elevation: 2,550 m.
Alto Adige – South Tyrol – a region in northern Italy bordering Switzerland &d Austria. It’s known for the medieval castles of Schloss Tirol & Castel d’Appiano. The beautiful and picturesque region encompasses part of the Dolomites, a section of the Italian Alps known for sawtooth limestone peaks.
Cavalese – a commune of 4,004 inhabitants in Trentino, northern Italy, a ski resort and the main centre in the Fiemme Valley.
San Martino di Castrozza– a mountain resort in the Primiero valley in the Trentino province in Italy. The western part, with 428 inhabitants, is in the comune of Siror, the eastern, with 135, in Tonadico.
Cortina d’Ampezzo– a ski resort in northern Italy. It’s part of the Dolomiti Superski area, which encompasses the Falzarego Pass, with its downhill runs.
Bormio– a town and comune with a population of about 4,100 located in the Province of Sondrio, Lombardy region of the Alps in northern Italy. The centre of the upper Valtellina valley is a popular winter sports resort.
Courmayeur– an Alpine resort in northwest Italy. The Saussurea Alpine Botanical Garden has medicinal and high-altitude plants, plus a swath of Alpine pasture.
Breuil-Cervinia– an Alpine resort in the Valle d’Aosta region of northwest Italy. It’s known for its snow-capped mountains, including the pyramid-shaped Matterhorn. A network of slopes connects Breuil-Cervinia to Swiss resorts.
