Maserati Ghibli Hybrid- New Electrified Road Beauty
Maserati, for the first time in its 105 year history is making an electrified car –the Ghibli Hybrid.
The new electrified road beauty is announced for 2022. Based on the Ghibli Sedan, this unique mild-hybrid system utilizes a 48-volt electrical system to power an electric supercharger, feeding the turbocharged, 2-liter four-cylinder. The electric motor-generator serves as the starter motor and can recover energy under braking. Some of that energy can be used to power an electric compressor designed to deliver boost at low revs. The sole transmission is an 8-speed automatic.
The electric-powered supercharger no longer needs engine power to turn. With a total of 330 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque, Gibly Hybrid can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 5.7 seconds. The top speed is 158 mph.
As standard, Maserati Connect, an always-on over-the-air system for updates and performance data, as well as a larger touch screen and graphical tweaks are used to improve the user experience and Maserati’s multimedia system.
Maserati’s most recent plan is to introduce redesigned versions of the Quattroporte and Levante in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
