Tambour Carpe Diem by Louis Vuitton-unveils the new watch creation. The watch has remained true to its craftsmanship values and innovation and is characterized by courageous virtuosity in watchmaking.
The Louis Vuitton timepiece is the fruit of two years of technical development, and it combines high-watchmaking calibre with a Vanitas Theme.
The watch shows the time on-demand without using hands. A miniature tableau pops on the watch’s face by activating a push-piece in the shape of a serpent’s head. A lifelike rattlesnake slithers, and its tail reveals the minutes. Monogram flowers appear in place of an eye in the skull showing the hour, while the jaw opens and the poet Horace’s famous phrase Carpe Diem emerges. It includes additional watch components- a jumping hour, a retrograde minute, a power reserve display, and the automata’s mechanism. Assembled in the shape of a skull, the calibre is visible. The timepiece has the signatures of artisans Anita Porchet for the enamelling and Dick Steenman for the engraving.
