The “Castle Of Dream” Is Waiting For You Germany is a country with the richest of cultures and history. Over the years, many architectural marvels and artistic creations have been built on the grounds of this ancient land. Today, these are sites that people travel to see from all over the world. The Neuschwanstein Castle is one such site.
This spectacular castle is tucked into the beautiful Alps, in a populated region. Their castle is surrounded by remote, picturesque lakes and a soul-touching natural scenery. The castle is situated on a rugged cliff, approximately 200ft above a valley below.
The architectural and design scheme of the castle reflects the ancient Bavarian ‘fairytale’ king’s, King Ludwig II’s, fantasy.
The king was inspired by a Romanesque knight’s castle, and thus it’s no surprise that the Neuschwanstein Castle offers a similar medieval experience. You may be surprised to know that the king, however, only slept a total of 11 nights in the castle.
The castle’s name was derived from that of one of Wagner’s opera characters, the Swan Knight. Neuschwanstein means ‘New Swan Stone’. Unfortunately, Wagner passed away before the completion of the castle and was unable to see it as a consequence.
While King Ludwig II had built the castle as a means of escaping the world, it was opened to the public just seven weeks following his death. It has now become one of the most visited places in Europe – with 1.3 million people have visited it. In the summers, people that number thousands fly from all over the world to explore the castle – the enormous marvel that was built for just one inhabitant.
The castle is frequently referred to as the ‘Castle of Dream’, and the ‘Castle of the fairytale king’ – both these names are appropriate, given how the castle appears to be one out of fantasy.
This beautiful establishment is worth visiting at least once, with a special someone or your family.
