Watch Out For the SIHH 2020

Watch Out For the SIHH 2020 with a new name, the well-established SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie Genève) in Switzerland will develop into a new name in 2020, called “Watches and Wonders” in Geneva, Switzerland. The SIHH, a trade fair for luxury watches set up by the FHH, Foundation de la Haute Horlogerie, dominated by the Richemont Group, was introduced in 1991.

Ever since then, it has become one of the biggest watch events with over 20 well-known brands and 20 watchmaking companies presenting a series of rich new collections.

Reportedly, in 2020 SIHH would be shifting its date from January to April and these new dates are set just before Baselworld, another major watch commercial tradeshow situated in Basel, Switzerland. These two will be joining forces to create the most unforgettable watch event yet. FHH has announced the new enthralling experience of the show that comes with its new name.

Fabienne Lupo, the chairwoman of FHH stated that this new experience was being planned out for over three years and gives a platform to their member brands.

Further, something that required the most effort and hard work ware expanding the popularity of the show to more than just watch retailers, media and other professionals in the industry. Though over the past couple of years, many watch trade shows have been criticized as both SIHH and Baselworld have lost their exhibitors, many industrial professionals defended the purpose of trade shows but also agreed that the event needed to reevaluate its cause and establish a concrete firm.

Although both, Baselworld and SIHH have similar aims, the two firms are very different types of trade shows. The main difference is that Watches and Wonders, including SIHH previously, are funded by watchmakers for their own benefit. On the contrary, Baselworld is set up by a professional event company called the MCH, which isn’t directly involved in the watch industry. Thus both approaches are distinctive in their own way and emphasize different aspects of the industry so you cannot just go to one of them if you wish to be a part of the whole experience and learn all the details regarding the massive industry.

Further, the splitting of the show between “In city” parts and the “salon” part will act as one of the biggest changes at Watches and Wonders. The salon will be situated at SIHH’s historic house at the Palexpo convention center next to the Geneva airport.

Open to the public, each ticket will cost about 300 Swiss Francs per person, which includes full access to the experience as well as exclusive VIP amenities. That being said, if you’re a watch enthusiast and wish to explore its massive universe, then Watches and Wonders is the event for you!
