JANUA – love for furniture with character

The Innovative handling of the oldest material in the world – Wood. has quickly made the family-run manufacturer in southern Bavaria a trendsetter in the design segment. To anyone looking at a table, sideboard, shelf, wardrobe or Bed by JANUA, the difference is obvious: founder and owner Christian Seisenberger and his team guided by liveliness inherit in very piece of wood. They give raw material a form, designed with respect and showcased in a space where it evolves.

The best example for the surprisingly new type of surface processing is the table SK 01 Monolith. Its table top is a creation where a tree trunk is shaped with a chain saw from a single unique trunk cut and then carbonized. Stefan Knopp the regarded JANUA designer rediscovered this ancient process and perfected it for the treatment of furniture surfaces.

The couch table BC 05 Stomp is compact, but o less impressive. The piece created by designer Birgit Hoffmann and Christoph Kahleyss, takes its archaic appearance from the deliberately emphasized contrast between massive tree slab and en extremely delicate metal frame.

The Solid Wood BB 11 Clamp, which was designed by Bernd Benninghof for JANUA has since become a classic. The table top is made up of individual wooden panels that, soon request can be centuries old and that are held together without glue by two adjustable steel braces.

Furniture from JANUA is intriguingly different and easy to fall in love with. It does not derive its self-confidence from a calculated effect, but from itself.
