MJM’s 3z- Space, Comfort, and Speed
A reinterpretation of a modern-day boat which tends to minimalize space and comfort, the new MJM’s 3z does just the opposite, without sacrificing speed.
With its physical appearance introduced for the fall, the 38-footer is something to be expected. “No company marries form and function together as well,” says Peter Johnstone, MJM owner. “It’s a nod to a Downeast tradition, with an elegant sheer line. We created three sections to live in, putting an emphasis on function.”
The naval architect, Doug Zurn, for whom the “Z” stands for, designed all the six models in this line, this time maximized seating and storage space to increase the practical use for its owners and their families. “We got rid of some of the miscellaneous features that you see on other boats to make this one highly efficient,” said Zurn. “You can flip down a bolster on the backrest and convert the lounge into a bed, or you can just leave it like that, and watch your kids swimming around the boat. We also included a shower in the port side and a utility storage closet on the other side.”
Zurn created this boat with elegance and the Johnstones opted for a hardtop that provides shade, as well as unusually large windows that open out. A shower, a storage room, along with a fridge, wet bar, and generous seating space are also included.
We could expect a new larger version of this yacht one this one is released on the market. 4z or 5z perhaps? Who knows? Till then, let us enjoy this beauty.
