The Rosewood Villa Magna is set for an opening in the fall, 2021 in Madrid following comprehensive restoration and update.
“Responding to its location on famous boulevard Paseo de la Castellana, the refurbishment takes its cue from the idea of a grand Madrid villa—a luxurious yet welcoming home in leafy surrounds,” says Rowena Hockin, curatorial director for BAR Studio. “The redesign will create a calm, contemporary retreat, with a sense of occasion introduced via confident colours drawn from Madrid’s vibrant palette.”
Landscape architect Gregorio Marañón will transform the campus with a lush garden, while a curated art collection will animate the interiors and instil a sense of place. Led by Michelin-starred chef Jesús Sánchez, Cantabrian restaurant El Cendaor de Amós will anchor the hotel’s F&B lineup and feature a design by locally based Alejandra Pombo that references the taberna madrileña design traditions of historic Madrid.
Spanish architect Ramón de Arana will oversee the refresh of the property’s façade, and Australian design practice and frequent Rosewood collaborator BAR Studio, which will spearhead the interior design.
