SENDING TOURISTS FOR A SPACE TRIP-SPACEX’S NEW MISSION
Have you ever dreamed of going to space? If so, this opportunity of a lifetime.
Four lucky travelers will be heading on an out-of-this-world excursion as early as 2021. SpaceX has officially signed a deal with a space tourism company, Space Adventures, and will move forward with planning a trip orbiting the Earth.
SpaceX, collaborating with Space Adventures, will organize a flight for four individuals abroad in SpaceX Crew Dragon Spacecraft. As stated, the trip is in late 2021.
The lucky passengers are going to spend up five days traveling through Earth’s orbit. The flight path will take tourists to altitudes two to three times higher where the International Station orbits are. The passengers will travel in an intimate gumdrop-shaped spacecraft, which is only 13 feet across and go further than anyone has been in decades.
“This historic mission will forge a path to making spaceflight possible for all people who dream of it, and we are pleased to work with the Space Adventures’ team on the mission,” Gwynne Shotwell, President and Chief Operating Officer of SpaceX said in a statement.
As for Space Adventures, the next step is to find individuals willing to pay for this unique excursion. Their spokesperson announced that the cost is in the range as other orbital spaceflight opportunities, which have previously been worth tens of millions of dollars.
