Cefalu Sicily Italy-A Postcard Town
Located on about 70 km from Palermo, Cefalu is easily reachable by car or by train. If you ever seen a seaside shot of Sicily, you have probably glimpsed of the port of this historic town. In a comparison of busy city life in Palermo, the pace of Cefalu is slower and it is the perfect place for a getaway. The unique architecture and narrow streets will lead you back in time and you will feel that the whole town is a scene for some Hollywood romantic movie.
The town has a population of 14.000 inhabitants, which during the summer month can be a lot higher because Cefalu is a popular tourist destination.
The cathedral dominates the main square. A postcard type of cathedral outdoor, but you should visit the indoor to discover stunning Byzantine mosaics. The brown signs will lead you to hike up to another temple, the Tempio di Diana, a Roman Temple built sometime around the 4th century BC, dedicated to the goddess Diana. If you want to enjoy the amazing sights of the town and even the temple you should go to the mountaintop of La Rocca. The mountaintop towers, once the site of a Norman Castle will provide you magnificent and picturesque views of the surrounding area.
